We are a family-led eye hospital with branches in Madurai, Sivakasi, Srivilliputhur and Sattur. The same small group of doctors has looked after many local families for more than one generation.

Subarani Eye Hospital Founded
Dr. B. Anil Kumar opens Subarani Eye Hospital in Sivakasi, with one operating theatre and four beds.

1998
Expansion in Sivakasi
The hospital grows to eight beds to meet growing community ophthalmic needs.

2010
Second-Generation Expansion
Dr. Praveen Kumar joins after working as a phacoemulsification surgeon at Dr Agarwal's Eye Hospital. The hospital, now Dr. Anil Kumar's Eye Hospital, expands to fifteen beds and two operating theatres.

Paediatric Ophthalmology & Squint Service
Dr. R. K. Rasmi Praveen joins after her paediatric ophthalmology fellowship at Narayana Nethralaya, and starts the dedicated paediatric and squint service.

Community Eye Care Outreach
Free screening camps have been part of the hospital's work since its early years. Our teams examine schoolchildren in government and private schools, and workers in the fireworks, match and offset-printing units in and around Sivakasi, Rajapalayam, Kovilpatti, Srivilliputhur and the wider Virudhunagar district. People found to need treatment — most often for cataract, glaucoma or diabetic eye disease — are brought to the hospital for care.
With the Rotary Club of Sivakasi and a Rotary International global grant, the family's charitable trust operates a mobile eye-screening vehicle that takes examinations to villages.
